The Jones Effect: How Chris Jones Keeps the Chiefs’ Defense on Lock

Andy Reid had exclusive requirements for Chris Jones in his most memorable game back with the Kansas City Bosses in the wake of finishing his holdout last week.

Jones surpassed those assumptions in the Bosses’ 17-9 win over the Jacksonville Panthers on Sunday.

“I felt agreeable that he would go in and have the option to do his thing, [but] perhaps not to that level.” Reid said. ”He clearly impacted the game in a positive manner for us.”

Jones had five tensions, 1.5 sacks and thumped down a pass on a hot Florida day while having impact time in his most memorable game this season. He arranged in various spots on edge line and ended up being extreme for the Pumas to deal with, regardless of where he arranged.

His full sack came on fourth down late in the second quarter to set up the Bosses with great field position for their main score drive of the half.

Jones‘ parted sack came in the final quarter on third down with the Pumas inside the Bosses’ 20. The Bosses constrained a fragmented pass on fourth down, and the Panthers never got the ball back.

“That I’m hanging around for, particularly plays like that when my number is called,” Jones said. “As far as I might be concerned, it’s simply one more game. No tension. Above all, going out, having a great time, partaking in my time back with these folks and ensuring we dominate the match, despite how that might be.”

Jones was in for 31 of Jacksonville’s 64 hostile plays, which positioned fourth among the Bosses’ cautious linemen.

The Bosses had four sacks, with George Karlaftis additionally getting 1.5, as the pass rush was more viable than it was in Week 1.

“He seemed to be the old 9-5 to me,” said Travis Kelce, alluding to Jones by his uniform number.

Kelce played interestingly this season subsequent to missing last week’s down with a sprained knee. His effect on the game wasn’t really that enormous of Jones, however Kelce actually got four passes for 26 yards and a score from Patrick Mahomes.

“There was no doubt as far as I can say,” Kelce said. “I was out there zooming around. I want to have helped my group out somewhat more than I. All that you saw out there was 100 percent what I could give and ideally one week from now we get far superior from it.”
